Social Media Revolution 2

Social Media Revolution 2 is a refresh of the original video with new and updated social media & mobile statistics that are hard to ignore. Based on the book Socialnomics by Erik Qualman.

Time-lapse Visualization of Check-ins on Location Based Apps

This is the data SimpleGeo collected from the eight geolocated data providers (FourSquare, Gowalla, Twitter, Flickr, Bump, Brightkite, BlockChalk, and Fwix) during the South by SouthWest Interactive Festival. The live datastream was available on http://austin.vicarious.ly, but we thought people might enjoy a conference retrospective in data. If you’d like to have access to this data and more, and/or outsource your entire geolocation infrastructure to the experts in massive geodatasets, check out http://simplegeo.com; we’re in Beta right now, with a full launch at the end of March!

Social Media Revolution

Still think social media is a fad? You might want to watch this video.  Remember the days when you can just buy an ad in the newspaper or purchase a listing in the phone book and wait for the customers come calling. Ahh! The good ol’ days. Well those days are over. You now have to work to get their trust before they think about doing business with you. Consumers nowadays are smart. Not only do they google what they are looking for, they also look for reviews of the businesses they find before they even pick up the phone or send you a message.

Its funny how people would trust a positive review from a total stranger more than taking your word. That’s what traditional marketing was doing. You are basically telling everybody how good your business is and hope that people would believe you. People are already talking about your business. But, are you listening to what they are saying? That’s is what social media is all about, word of mouth. Only this time, one can reach tens of thousands of people and not just their circle of influence. Why not join in on the conversation. You’ll be surprised what it can do for your business.
